2010 Saluda Young Farmer Scholarship Award Winners
(August 2010)

Saluda, SC (August 2010)   The Saluda Young Farmer Scholarship is presented in the amount of $1,500 to four local students.  Scholarship applications are based on the student being an agriculture major, their grades, community and leadership activities, as well as an essay.  This year’s winners are Brian Lawrence Bushey, Creighton Riley Price, Sally Ruth Yon, and Thomas Drake Yon.

Brian is the son of Bill and Marlene Bushey.  He is a rising freshmen at Piedmont Tech where he will be majoring in General Engineering and Business Management.  His future goal is to work in an agricultural related field in Saluda and surrounding counties. 

Creighton is the son of Ansel and Amy Price.  He is a rising junior at Clemson University majoring in Agricultural Mechanization and Business.  His plans after college are to secure a job in the agribusiness field.

Sally is the daughter of Kevin and Lydia Yon.  She is a rising sophomore at Clemson University where she is majoring in Agricultural Education.  Her future plans are to return to this area and teach agriculture.

Drake is the son of Kevin and Lydia Yon.  He is a rising freshmen at Clemson University where he will be majoring in Agricultural Economics.  After college he plans to return to the family farm.
